Hell And Back Again

Last year, people were very excited about Restrepo showing soldiers in the heat of battle and their feelings being into combat. I enjoyed watching it but at the end i didn`t understand the “hype” about this movie. Sometimes i felt seeing some ordinary TV documentary or some YouTube clips.

Director Danfung Dennis went with “Hell And Back Again” a different and much more detailed path. You won`t be missing these typical interviews from soldiers sitting in front of a camera, because most scenes will work without any dialog, music or further explanation. The intimacy of many moments is very touching and i often felt reminded (feeling-wise) of the “Grocery Store CEREALS Scene” from The Hurt Locker.
The carefully selected changes between the main character`s time in Afghanistan and back in the USA has a strong drive and the footage of his fighting to recover from his injuries is frightening and heartbreaking. The longer the movie runs, the more you`ll get drawn into the broken world of US Marine Sergeant Nathan Harris.

One of the few real Anti-War movies out there so far. 100% Recommended!

And now let`s look at some screenshots that show some gear, etc.! 🙂

(click all following pictures to enlarge)

Most of the gear seems pretty common for USMC grunts…

…but you`ll spot some nice details like this one: an improvised ACOG lanyard:

There are nice group shots and gear slathers in the movie:

And you`ll see PJs at work (Yeahhh!!!) and some other “Special Forces” Operators (???):

HAVE FUN WATCHING IT! 🙂
